The main goal of Enhance Europe project concerns the set-up of a field-scale system able to collect and convert the solar energy into internal energy in a fluid medium, to transmit the stored energy to a fluid (water) to produce domestic/sanitary hot water or for domestic heating, so as to reduce the use of fossil fuels for the production of domestic/sanitary hot water (gas, oil, fuel or electricity). The energy harvesting system, embedded in road pavements under thin-layer asphalt wearing courses, expects to recover and reuse solar renewable energy thanks to integrated conversion technologies for building heating. The project aims at developing advanced research and innovative excellence in thermal energy harvesting and accumulation in the built environment among European countries. Implementing the European New Bauhaus (NEB), an integrated approach able to consider the technical, societal, economic, environmental and transport sector issues is advised for a sustainable mobility and building management, promoting synergies among energy communities, neutral and positive energy districts, climate neutral cities policies, smart building systems, efficient energy management and control systems for buildings. The technology takes into account different scale economies in different European contexts (local processes and practices, climate diversity, building types, etc.), towards EU standardisation. This will be possible thanks to a strong international Consortium of
experienced partners in thermal energy harvesting, automation, electronics, business, to reach excellent joint results dealing with scientific knowledge, research and development, education and public engagement. The project will allow to concretize specific developments in various fields as following described:

SCIENTIFIC

Giving a tangible contribution to high-relevant scientific knowledge and community (through improved literature and publications, technical reports, conferences, etc.) for high-impact and quality research and implementation of energy harvesting system within different EU countries.

TECHNOLOGY

Implementing physical and technical components and specs for the harvesting and conversion systems (road construction details, forming technology, plants, sensors, etc.), the modality of energy integration with existing systems as a part of the energy network, also promoting interoperability, system planning and operation, sector coupling, energy distribution and management.

MARKETLACE

Improving organisation and exchange, at different levels, regarding market rules, regulation, business processes and models.

TRANSITION

Promoting the adoption of new solutions in the current daily life and business, including readiness, circularity, tools for system analysis and decision making.
